Artist’s Statement: My selected area of expertise:
acrylic, oil, watercolour, monotype printmaking, collage mixed-media,
mosaic, and drawing are my common media. At the start of my career
in 1985 and up until 1993, I created using mainly figurative expressionism,
realism, minimalism and abstract. Beginning from 1993, I began to
play more with materials, which enables me to experiment with fluency,
hence my art forms began to lean more towards abstraction. In doing
so, I began to fully enjoy the manipulation of colours and elements
that I have mastered over the years. In some ways, I have been able
to start a style that is unique to me.
Workshop Description:
I will conduct an action-packed abstract acrylic mixed-media workshop.
I start the class with an introduction on method and materials, and
I set aside up to 15 minutes at the end of the workshop to discuss
and enable instructor and participants to share feedback.Five samples
of works of five masters will be shown and discussed to illustrate
what is important in and about each style. This will take about 20
or 25 minutes depending on questions that follow. That exercise will
follow method and materials introduction. What this would do is guide
participants about how to produce works in series or in developing
unique style.
